Ok so according to that post then Yi should have his TO's and the following players should be on the free agent list as their TO's were not accepted by Sunday, 2 Aug??
Raymond Felton Randy Foye Marvin Williams Al Horford Nick Young Pops Mensah-Bonsu Channing Frye

Someone please tell me why it matters whether or not he has declined the team option?

Someone please tell me why it matters whether or not he has declined the team option? The trade offer as it's posted has no TO's for Yi, because NJ clearly declined them on 16 Aug in the 'team option' thread. Therefore Yi's should not have TO's after this season. But others feel that he should.

I posted it before and I think that Phoenix should have the rights to accept/decline team option. In my opinion, we shouldn't accept/decline future team options, especially if you're going to trade the player. And also, New Jersey, I think Dallas accidentally put 08-09 salary info in there for Carney as well, because if I remember correctly, he had a team option for 09-10 season, hence he didn't do TO for next yr. And also if we start to accept/decline TO for the upcoming years, it would cause a mess.

I dont think that we should decline future options too, never saw that in a sim league, BUT if he is allowed to do that, then wherever I still want to do this trade as my team will be better now, and I want to win it all this season...having Yi on my bench will improve it a lot.
well now, can we get votes here please?

actually since it was my fault for suggesting it in the first place, so I'll try to fix it.
what NJ did was RIGHT it's my fault as CM member not checking threads to see if YI'S option was picked up or not.
and what NOH is true, it does not matter if you have 3 TO for the next 3 season, you can't just drop ONE OPTION and then pick up other TWO, that's not how the NBA works.
once you decline THAT OPTION, the other 2 years option does not exist either beucase you declined the first option making that player a FA or if your doing this before a trade like NJ has then you can trade him but the option has been dropped for future years (MAKING HIM A FA for NEXT year)
This is how the rookie contract works
first 2 years GUARANTEED then 2 team options, then RFA.
so NJ drops TO for year 3, which means Yi is going to be a FA from YEAR 3 AND ON, same thing he can drop year 4, and be a FA YEAR 4 AND ON.
so if NJ trades Yi AT year 2, after year 2 Yi is a FA, because the TO was dropped for year 3 as well as the FUTURE YEARS.

Nobody wasn't arguing about that, it was about accepting/declining future TO-s, which in my opinion are pointless, each team option should be done on the right time, e.g. during the offseason before the TO year.

Going on similar topic, then if we had contract extensions, we could just offer rookies contract extensions, to avoid them becoming FA-s or players in sucky teams don't give their teams a chance and decline their future PO-s, while they get a career ending injury before the contract ends and he can't take the PO back. Dallas should make it clear how is this going to work. My vote goes for that we accept/decline TO-s, during the offseason before the TO.
