So last night i spent hours being frustrated trying to figure out how to do this sim thing. Some problems i ran into:
-2k9 will only let me control a max of 8 teams in dynasty or season -In season mode i can turn off FA signings for comp teams but not trades, vice versa in dynasty -I hooked up a keyboard to my ps3 and used the print screen button to try and save screenshots but nothing saved -I can only see the boxscores for teams that i control (max of 8)
Does anyone have any solutions? I might just go buy the pc game but im not sure that would solve some of the issues such as the 8 team max and stuff

I'd recommend just buying NBA Live 06 or NBA Live 07, the best sim engine that's been used in the past.

Is this going to mess up the ratings?

That's what I was talking about, but the after-Draft roster won't be available yet anytime soon, I think, probably in August or September.

the ratings from 2K are sh*t...we should make our own ratings...more realistic ones

I've been trying to tell people not to follow the currently posted ratings because we would be using a new game anyway, whether it was NBA Live 2010 or NBA 2k10.
The best suggestion I can give is to buy NBA Live 07 and use roster and patch updates. It's a lot of work, but simming period is a lot of work and will take up a lot of time.
A league lives and dies by the simmer. The admin and committee aren't nearly as important as the simmer, so if you commit to it stick to it.

I'm confused as to where in there I hinted that i wasn't planning on simming but ok. As for the ratings, I told you that we would using 2k9 and then next year's 2k game. We are using the last official updates from 2k9 so your off when you say that we have to use all new ratings no matter what because it only makes sense that the last update from 2k9 (updated at the start of the finals) should match up with the initial ratings for next year. The rating thing kind of annoys me anyway because GM's don't even need to have that much knowledge to compete...a five year old could tell me that a guy rated 76 is better than a guy rated 70. GM's base everything off the rating and know very little if anything about the player. I wish I could go without posting ratings so that basketball IQ actually had something to do with this league but you guys wouldn't let me. As for the gaming, I don't have a ton of time to be creating players so i'm looking for alternatives. I've considered simming through the season kinda rapidly and only posting the standings and such at larger intervals (and not showing box scores) so that we can just get through this warm-up season and enter the offseason early enough that we don't have to rush it. And i would have the PC game and right rosters by the start of the 2009/10 season. I'm also about to get a new laptop so im wanting to wait a little bit so that I can just put it all on that and not have to transfer anything. So here is my opinion: I say that I start simming and I post standings and such after every two weeks of simming. I can also list the results every day, just not the whole box score. If I can get the screenshot thing working then I can do it that way. If not, I can take manual pics and upload them (i'm simming on a 50" plasma so the pic would be real clear). We will finish this warm-up season in a few weeks and then head into the offseason. Meanwhile, i'll get my new computer and NBA Live 07 for PC and get everything ready for the second season, where everything will be done in-depth and thoroughly just like D5. Your thoughts?

Sounds great, the warm up season doesn't matter anyways. Basically just starting simming, people are more concerned with trading right now anyways.

I think this is the best course of action to take overall.

k awesome. unfortunately i started this league at an odd time...too soon to start the 2009 offseason but too late to do an in-depth 08/09 season. So i guess this is the best that we can do for now.
